Business Area Finance and Professional Services – Procurement

The primary purpose of this role is to maximise the value derived from O2’s supplier relationships by utilising innovative category management, sourcing and supplier relationship/contract management techniques that drive best commercial value, whether in the CAPEX or OPEX domains, and mitigate O2 UK’s business risk.

Category Management & Supplier Strategy

* Leading the development of a category strategy by addressing the relevant category’s total spend and supplier base and reviewing this strategy throughout the year * Continuously reviewing the category strategy to ensure alignment to O2 UK and Telefonica strategy and business objectives. * Continuously reviewing the relevant supply market to ensure that O2 UK is best positioned to maximise its business opportunities and minimise its business risk. * Identifying, prioritising and maintaining a pipeline of cost saving opportunities within that category by working with senior O2 UK and Telefonica stakeholders including Corporate Procurement and Telefonica Global Sourcing (TGS). When required ensuring the effective handover of initiatives to the UK Procurement Sourcing Team, Corporate Procurement or TGS. * Leading the delivery of cost saving initiatives either independently or by working in close cooperation with senior O2 UK and Telefonica stakeholders including the UK Procurement Sourcing team, Corporate Procurement and TGS. * Leading the development of specific supplier plans and objectives for key suppliers in the relevant category as well as leading their implementation as part of the O2 UK’s standard sourcing or supplier management process.

Supplier & Contract Management

* Managing the appropriate commercial interface with a range of suppliers including tier 1 & 2 suppliers in accordance with O2 UK’s supplier management approach. * Adopting a holistic commercial approach encompassing the entire spend/activity profile with the supplier and its relevant contracts including the leveraging of commitment controls to ensure compliance with contract, and compliance with the supplier as a preferred source. * Identifying the commercial benefit (e.g. cost reductions & process improvements) opportunities arising from those supplier and contractual relationships. Projectising those opportunities and leading the resulting commercial supplier interaction at senior level. * Fully utilising O2 UK’s supplier management system

Sourcing & Purchase Management

* Supporting the purchase negotiations managed by TGS, Corporate Procurement & UK Procurement Sourcing teams by providing category knowledge and where required setting negotiation targets and co-ordinating/representing O2 UK’s input into negotiations, * Managing O2 UK senior stakeholder engagement in TGS, Corporate Procurement & UK sourcing activity. * Ensuring that awarded contracts are formalised with suppliers and that the contract is accurately registered in the relevant contract register and enabled for ordering through the O2 UK eProcurement system (currently Oracle iProcurement). * Fully utilising O2 UK’s Ariba e-sourcing tools and capability (e-RFPs, e-auctions, workflow management and reporting). * When called upon running competitive sourcing competitions in end to end compliance with the O2 UK 7-step sourcing & ACMII processes.

General

* Leading & participating in contract negotiations and the implementation of subsequent contracts. * Working within a framework of targets including savings, effectiveness and efficiency in delivery. * Working with O2 UK and Telefonica Group stakeholders (including TGS) at all levels to ensure full alignment with O2 UK and Telefonica Group strategy and objectives. * Working with O2 UK Finance and Legal to ensure appropriate and effective contracts. * Ensuring that all negotiated contracts include pricing schedules capable of incorporation as e-catalogs. * Ensuring compliance with O2 UK’s Procurement Procedure and Procurement Policy. * Ensuring compliance with O2 UK’s corporate product, quality, environmental and corporate social responsibility requirements. * Experience of managing the commercial elements arising from contract implementation, amendments, extensions, and disputes with a nominated range of suppliers.

· Experience of running substantive sourcing events within blue-chip organisations

· Experience of running eCommerce applications in blue-chip organisations

· Experience of developing category, budget and supplier strategies

· Experience of using management information from ERP and Purchasing systems

· Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work with and influence suppliers and internal stakeholders at the highest level

· Deep contract law knowledge

· Strong negotiating skills

· The ability to lead cross-functional and/or virtual teams

· Strong analytical and desktop skills

· A willingness and ability to work with the minimum of supervision

· Educated to degree level

· CIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply) qualification
