full time Manager Construction Installation IPTV

PURPOSE AND SCOPE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Under regional direction, the Manager of Construction is responsible for the management, organization, health and safety, quality, productivity and profitability of a team of approximately twenty technicians covering Montreal area. He/she is also in charge of managing subcontractors performing telecom construction work for Expertech.

Monitor expenditure, income, team productivity and subcontractor management while upholding quality and safety standards according to the company’s standards. Coach employees on job performance and problem solving. Monitor costs and work advancement to ensure client expectations are met. Interface with internal/outside clients on a daily basis to ensure high client satisfaction
.



MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES



Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:



Managing a team of unionized technicians in charge of building the phone network: line, splicing (copper and fibre) and installing various equipments.

Coaching, leading and training a team of employees.

Visiting sites (with employees and subcontractors if required) to plan projects so as to optimize productivity, quality and safety and ensure feasibility of proposed design.

Distributing projects to employees or subcontractors and managing their activities according to layout, quality and safety requirements and following-up on workload according to priorities.

Ensure deadlines dates are met as per the client’s requirements.

Developing and maintaining a good relationship with employees, subcontractors and internal/outside clients.

Identifying roadblocks prior to job commencement and solving issues in time to maximize the overall efficiency of operations. Unsolved issues are to be referred to appropriate staff.

Observing the work to be done and processes in place and submit ideas to improve them and increase productivity, profitability, quality and safety within the organization.

Analyzing and making decisions on projects taking into account costs, timetables, employees’ skills and available equipment.

Monitoring and managing income, expenditure, billing, tool use, equipment use and team’s budget.

Checking and authorizing time sheets, work sheets, production records and new job notices.

Ensuring all the material needed to carry out the projects is ordered and available.

If needed, analyzing own results and drafting performance, accident, improvement proposal reports as well as contracts.

Being accountable for capitalized equipment and tools and tracking them.

Traveling to visit sites in the above-mentioned areas.

Occasionally, being available to respond/work outside usual working hours – emergency situation

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Educational/Experience Level Required:

University or College degree in Administration/Technology (telecommunication major) and/or equivalent.

Extensive knowledge in project management and follow-up

Strong financial skills and ability to analyze monthly reports directing actions

Good understanding of the products and services offered by the organization and the shareholder (Expertech/Bell)

Knowledge of Health and Safety related practices and laws

Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Knowledge of SAP an asset
