full time Technical Learning Partner

Accountability/Position Summary

Accountable for partnering with Business Unit management teams to determine technical learning requirements, setting training priorities based on business objectives, and delivering on these priorities. This will include developing technical training material (courses, labs, learning aids), delivering training sessions, coaching, mentoring, and providing on-going developmental support to technology staff.

The location of this position is open to any city in Canada due to the travel requirement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Work collaboratively with HR Learning & Development team, Business Managers, HR Partners & subject matter experts to identify the most appropriate solution to address the core learning needs.
2. Design/develop & deliver technical and job/operational training, as required.
3. Champion other core learning initiatives to support MTSAllstream Enterprise Solutions Division.
4. Act as the single point of contact for the Business Unit(s) you represent, Project manage the entire learning & development cycle from analysis, design, development, implementation and measurement.

Specific Functional/Technical Knowledge and Skills

• An industry expert in some or all of the following: Optical networks, Gigabit Ethernet, IP protocols, MPLS, routing, VoIP & related protocols, network security, network traffic management
• Strong business acumen & interpersonal skills
• Experience presenting to various audiences
• Ability to operate independently in a fast-pace environment
• Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
• Ability to develop strong relationship with senior management, management and employees
• Superior time management and multi-task organizational skills
• Exceptional Customer Service orientation
• Strong team work skills and at the same time being able to work autonomously
• Current working knowledge of the MTS Allstream network infrastructure – network topologies, optical technologies, switching, routing, provisioning & troubleshooting tools, NIMS, ISC-BIG, etc., would be an asset

Other Skills/Competencies/Attributes

• Proven hands-on experience with optical switches, IP & MPLS routers/switches
• 1-2 years proven experience presenting to various audiences
• The ability and a willingness to travel throughout Canada
• Proven experience in MTS Allstream network design, implementation or troubleshooting using such tools as CWM 15, ISC-BIG and NIMS is considered an asset
• Cisco and other technical certifications considered an asset ( CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, CCIP, CCDP, CCVP, CCSI)
• Network and system security certifications considered an asset (CISSP, Check Point CCSE+ , Nokia NCSM)
• Post-secondary education, college or university with a focus on Adult Learning considered an asset
• Knowledge of training & development: needs analysis, design, development, delivery and performance assessment considered an asset
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite experience (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
