QA Test Analyst/Analyste, Essais

Accountability/Position Summary
Responsible for systems quality control which is achieved by evaluating variance from defined requirement(s) and system designs. The QA test analyst works closely with project management, business analysts, and software development in a shared responsibility for project feasibility evaluation, quality and completion. Participation and continuous involvement with Business Analysts and Software Developers in the detailed design, build, testing and implementation phases of development and maintenance. Responsible for the accurate testing and evaluation of software programs against design specifications and user requirements, performing functional and regression tests on new applications and changes to existing applications. Responsible for detecting defects and managing defect resolution throughout the testing cycle to implementation. Adhere to the test plan schedule to ensure testing completeness and defect free code is released to production. Uses SDLC Best practices, Iterative Development, Use Case Methodology and industry best practice techniques to achieve quality solutions that meet or exceed the documented needs of our customers.
Key Responsibilities
• Designing and development of automated and manual test processes, test scenarios and test cases design, scripting and execution using automated test tools for regression testing
• Review product and system functional requirements and create test cases to ensure that overall quality is delivered
• Executes system, functional, regression and user acceptance testing on new applications and changes to existing applications
• Identify test data requirements for test case execution and create if required
• Adhere to test plan schedules and adjustment to plans in order to meet delivery dates
• Identify, analyze, and document all defects (software bugs) and operational characteristics that are inconsistent with stated requirements and design specifications
• Document and validate resolution of identified defects
• Assist in evaluating product and application defects reported by customers and make recommendations for their correction
• Assist in implementing improvements in test methods and strategies
• Escalate test (quality) risks to management with mitigation activities, where possible
• Mentor junior members of the team
• Prepare Post implementation analysis of testing - Identifies risks and contribute to continuous QA improvement activities
Specific Functional/Technical Knowledge and Skills
• Bachelor's in degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent work experience and technical training is required
• Completion of or working towards a formal QA certification (CSTE, CSQA, ASQA) or equivalent is an asset
• 5 years direct experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of quality assurance standards for software testing
• 5 years direct experience as a tester for major application integration and/or major application product release
• Must have solid understanding of SDLC, QA practices and methodologies as well as software development processes and methodologies
• Proven data analysis, data verification, and problem-solving abilities
• Experience with statistical reporting and analysis
• Excellent PC skills and technically fluent in programming languages, including Java
• Desired: Programming experience in SQL
Technical Environment:
• Client Server Applications, Mercury Test Director, Windows, and UNIX
Other Skills/Competencies/Attributes
• Knowledge of business workflow modeling techniques, Use Cases, QA and SDLC Best practices for the application development lifecycle
• Experience with the design and development of automated and manual test processes, test scenarios and test cases design, scripting and execution using automated test tools for regression testing
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all management levels and thrive in a cross-functional environment are required
• Team player who will work side by side with the development team and project teams as required
• Must have demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in project teams, providing relevant quality assurance service
• Must have strong analytical skills and problem solving skills to validate testing processes through careful testing in order to maximize the benefit of the company investments
• Able to independently analyze test results and be confident making decisions and recommendations
• Must have excellent leadership, interpersonal and motivational skills
• Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
