In this role you will be accountable for the overall success of a dynamic, large scale warehouse and distribution operation by ensuring it is a productive, safe and positive place to work. Reporting directly to the Director of Supply Chain and Asset Management, you will be accountable for the overall management, planning, organization, staging, execution and complete day-to-day operation of SaskTel’s warehouse and distribution function including maximizing productivity and managing expenses while working ethically and modeling SaskTel’s core values. You shall be accountable for the accomplishment of these goals by developing strategies and objectives and leading a team in executing these strategies and objectives. The incumbent will ensure that SaskTel’s warehouse and distribution function is optimally organized to provide excellent customer service to SaskTel’s Stores and Operation Groups throughout the province by ensuring all equipment, materials and/or products are delivered on-time and damage free. The Distribution Center Manager must have a comprehensive knowledge of the Warehousing, Distribution, and Delivery business, be able to use this knowledge to formulate goals and objectives and be capable of motivating his/her self and a team of 25-30 staff to work as a team and accomplish these goals and objectives.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


· Manages all aspects of the distribution and warehouse center’s financial, operational, people and process and service related objectives to drive continuous improvement and efficiency gains to reduce overall cost-to-serve; Participates in strategic and business process improvement projects that ensure optimal performance and key operating metrics are achieved.

· Evaluates the effectiveness of and recommends alternatives for work methods, procedures, controls and staffing to achieve accurate and timely processing and distribution of equipment, materials and/or products; ensures warehouse layout is optimally aligned for maximum efficiency as demand and inventory needs require.



· Interacts with customers and business partners to drive results and deliver solutions including Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Asset Management Protection and SaskTel Retail Stores; identify and share best practices across the Corporation.



· Coaches, trains, and develops employees informally and through formal training programs, providing both informal (e.g. on-floor coaching) and formal (e.g. written evaluation) job performance based feedback. Creates a positive work environment by creating a customer-centered work place that demonstrates care and concern for all employees.



· Directly responsible for ensuring that the SaskTel Retail Stores and Operation group needs are met, distribution service is managed to KPIs, and any and all Retail Store and/or Operation group concerns are handled promptly and completely; personally manage emergency issues with Stores and Operations.



· Ensure a culture of safety and effectiveness throughout the organization by following SaskTel’s safety policies and procedures - monitor the warehouse and distribution center’s safety, physical security and operational metrics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

· Accountable to acquire and sustain a current and strong understanding while actively participating and contributing to SaskTel’s significant projects and programs particularly with respect to customer affecting initiatives and the requisite resources and budget constraints.



· Accountable to respond, in a timely and accurate manner, to information/reporting requirements of SaskTel’s Shareholder, the SaskTel Executive Management Committee, Internal and External Audits, Finance and Accounting, etc.



· Responsible for the timely delivery of corporate mail, including head office and provincial locations, utilizing the most economical delivery of corporate mail and parcels through consolidation with provincial warehouse shipping schedule and contracted carriers.



· Accountable for the effective and efficient disposal of corporate assets utilizing the SaskTel Pioneers, vendor partners or alternate methods; ensuring the safe and environmentally friendly disposal; development and management of contracts for salvage materials, as well as maintaining an effective relationship with the SaskTel Pioneers for material provided to them for sale.



· Accountable for developing a comprehensive understanding of SaskTel’s business and how the DC Manager’s actions affect SaskTel’s business; using this knowledge to make effective short and long term business decisions; knowing the competition and the communications industry, contributing to the effective operation of SaskTel’s Procurement function and emerging developments within the field of Supply Chain Management.



· Accountable to protect and enhance the image and integrity of SaskTel with all its publics by exemplifying ongoing conduct befitting a representative of the Corporation. Ensures all warehouse and distribution activities are professionally conducted in accordance with SaskTel’s Code of Business Conduct and Corporate Values.



POSITION REQUIREMENTS

· A Bachelor’s degree concentrating in Business, Operations Management or a Logistics-related discipline.

· A record of continuing professional development.

· Several years of Logistics Management Leadership experience including 1.) warehouse and distribution operation management and 2.) standard accounting principles and procedures.

· A demonstrated ability to cultivate and foster effective and professional relationships with customers, suppliers, partners and contractors.

· A proven leader with several years experience managing a large, diverse group including selection, termination, performance management and professional development of staff.

· Previous change management experience (driving, influencing and inspiring change by coaching and communicating at all impact levels).

· Strong organization and analytical skills.

· Must display broad conceptual skills and an ability to integrate numerous activities while working across divisions and/or functional areas.

· Strong warehouse systems application knowledge - warehouse management and distribution as well as SAP and Microsoft Office.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Must be able to direct a wide array of warehouse and distribution activities in remote facilities.

· An ability to travel throughout the province on short notice as per business demands.
