SOURCING SPECIALIST III
at Sprint Nextel in Overland Park‚ KANSAS
Job Description Responsible for leading the sourcing process for various spend categories and conducting category spend analyses. Activities include the qualification of suppliers, development and issuance of requests for proposals and evaluations. Conduct negotiations including pricing, logistics, service level guarantees, and terms with suppliers. Develops supplier performance criteria. Understands the supplier markets and anticipates changes in market conditions, reliability of supply and supply economics. These actions will lead to the leveraged procurement of goods and services.
Seasoned professional with expert knowledge of a specialty. Regarded internally and/or externally as a subject matter expert.
This position is responsible for leading strategic sourcing initiatives as required to meet Sprint Network requirements: including strategy development, supply market analysis, RFP development, supplier negotiations, supplier selection and contract development.
Knowledge/Skills Required:
1. Minimum of 10 years progressive supply chain experience or telecom industry experience
2. BS/BA in Engineering, Business Administration, Finance or other related field and or/ equivalent work experience
3. Demonstrated negotiations ability
4. Financial analyst ability
5. Excellent oral and written communication skills
6. Proven project management skills
7. Demonstrated customer focus
Preferred:
1. Advanced business degree MBA, JD, etc is desired
2. Professional certification CPM, APICS, etc. is desired

Conduct negotiations including pricing, logistics, service level guarantees, and terms with suppliers. Develops supplier performance criteria. Sources materials, equipment, supplies, and commodity products. Evaluates, selects, monitors and maintains relationships with vendors. Performs analysis of purchasing needs, including analysis of costs and performance. Forecasts supply requirements, issues periodic reports on trends, and negotiates pricing, discounts, and contracts. Frequently contributes to the development of new theories and methods. Multiple incumbent position and typically reports to Manager or Director.
