Job Function Serve as Intellectual Property counsel, in consultation with lead counsel, to a cutting edge processor design group. The chosen candidate will have varied responsibilities including:
- Supervision of outside counsel preparation, prosecution, and pre filing prior art searches and analysis
- Infringement and clearance analysis
- Participation in design around and analysis
- Attending Patent Review Board meetings
- Transactional matters including license and contract analysis, negotiation and drafting
- Advising inventors and management on a variety of issues from Patents, Licenses, Open Source, Copyright, etc.
- Attend and participate in patent application/claim drafting meetings
- Interpretation of agreements and licenses
Skills/Experience The successful candidate will have at least 10 years in patent preparation and prosecution, and be a registered member of the U.S.P.T.O. The successful candidate will have a degree in electrical or computer systems engineering. A master's degree a plus. Several years of experience in some aspect of computer systems design, or equivalent a big plus.
Responsibilities The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in computer systems to be able to communicate effectively with inventors. The successful candidate will enjoy working with inventors and management on a variety of issues. A strong patent and technical background is needed in order to be able to craft broad and narrow claims that read on the inventive concepts. The successful candidate should have the flexibility to work in a small office environment, be comfortable with a variety of Intellectual Property matters and be a team player. He/she should enjoy creating innovative and efficient solutions to constantly improve the efficiency of day to day operations and the interface to the home office in San Diego. Negotiation skills are a big plus. Experience in VLSI packaging and Processing a plus. Experience in memory systems a plus. Sporadic travel may be necessary
Education Requirements Electrical or Computer engineering degree, JD, at least one state bar registration, and USPTO registration.
