PURPOSE AND SCOPE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Under general direction, continued development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and workplace practices for Expertech.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Process and Program Development (15%)
Ensuring company compliance with all aspects of occupational health & safety and Worker’s Compensation legislations, rules and regulations.
Service and Program Delivery (25%)
Acting as a certified management member on the Joint Health & Safety Committee(s).
Adherence and Reporting (15%)
Develop Operational working plan, and make recommendations for streamlining future mode of operation for Health, Safety and Environment, and improve effectiveness
Strategy and Objectives (10%)
Analyze current Health & Safety program with the assistance of the Staffing & Training Manager
Ensure Health, Safety and Environment guidelines are established, enforced, and practiced (25%)
Review existing Health & Safety training programs to determine requirements and ensure improve effectiveness.
Provide statistical analysis to support proposed training and prevention programs.
Act as Liaison with the Expertech VP’s, Operation Teams, HRDC and unions to increase efficiency, customer service, and build sound relationships.
Act as a training consultant to all Health & Safety programs.
Maintain, and Revise all Health & Safety policies, processes, and procedures.
Perform Random studies and analysis of Health & Safety information and programs with the assistance of the Staffing & Training Manager.
Responsible to administer Health & Safety programs, analyze documentation, report on progress, trends, or problem areas.
Identify the need for training to meet legislative changes & requirements and the safety of employees.
Special Projects as required & Participate in Audits.
Act as liaison with Acclaim-SBA Benefits Management group.
May perform other duties as assigned. (10)
Managing of unionized employees including those who are on a return to work program.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Educational Level Required:
University Degree or College Diploma and/or equivalent experience
Specific Experience:
3 - 5 years experience in field or related area of Health & Safety Management
Previous managerial experience would be an asset
Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal & written)
Knowledge of Organization’s OHSA, WSIB and other regulatory and legislative requirements
Project/Customer Relations Management skills.
