Senior Statistical Modeler
at Sprint Nextel in Overland Park‚ KANSAS
Job Description Lead analyst/modeler & marketing consultant in a team focused on developing, implementing and consulting on predictive modeling solutions in a marketing environment.
Performs analytical tasks which include evaluation of the business problem, selection of appropriate methodology and predictive data elements, construction and operationalization of modeling solution, as well as documentation and presentation of findings and recommendations.
Functions in a highly interactive, analytical support capacity across Marketing, CRM and Finance to deliver data driven insights and recommendations to marketing professionals that drive marketing strategy and shape business processes to drive customer value.
Makes strategic recommendations for deployment of insights across channels (direct mail, email, online/web, brick/retail, customer service, social/viral media, etc), delivering optimized customer treatment across programs.
This position requires not only the ability to work in a consultative manner with the internal customer to determine analytical objectives, but also the ability to derive the appropriate insights and knowledge from the project together with the understanding of the business, products and industry trends to deliver key, actionable recommendations to decision makers and senior management necessary for their programs.
Knowledge/Skills:
• 3+ years experience working on an analytical or technical team performing quantitative business analysis or statistical/predictive modeling for marketing purposes. Experience in a direct, database marketing environment preferred.
• 2+ years experience utilizing base SAS statistical procedures (or similar package) to conduct statistical analysis and build models. Experience with logistic regression and other categorical analysis methods required. Experience with social-network based modeling solutions a plus. Experience with design and analysis of experiments as well as optimization approaches are a plus.
• Hands on programming, data manipulation and data quality management experience required. Experience working with very large data sets. Working knowledge of SQL. Advanced proficiency with SAS preferred.
• 1+ years operational experience to productionalize code for ongoing and repeated scoring and integration with campaign and reporting systems.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency with independently developing and delivering presentations. Must be able to explain statistical findings to a non-technical audience.
• Client facing, consulting experience, proactively working with customers to develop solutions to business problems in a time sensitive environment.
• Strong project management and prioritization skills. Ability to help define a strategic functional plan and track progress.
• Advanced degree or equivalent experience in quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, or Quantitative MBA.
